11/26/2023 0 Comments Mac mail rule before spamsieve![]() ![]() I re-read the manual and it says that Apple Mail should have a rule installed when I ran the SpamSieve/Install Apple Mail Plug-in menu item (I did). But the same exact spam keeps showing up in my Inbox. You can use the On My Mac Spam folder with an IMAP account, in which case the spam messages will be moved off the IMAP server. Even with the special Junk folder, you can open the triangle next to it to see the individual folders for each account. Overall, I like SpamSieve and will buy it when the trial expires. I installed SpamSieve two days ago and have been dutifully marking spam as such according to the Message/SpamSieve - Train as Spam menu item. No, each server folder is shown as one folder in Mail. It also seems to have some form of blocker, because my spam has “dwindled” to about 300 a day. It is uncannily good at catching crap, and once you train it on the ones that manage to sneak by, it catches them faultlessly in the future. If you have some spam emails in your Inbox or JunkMail, you point SpamSieve to it and it uses them to train itself. Once installed, SpamSieve is very easy to train and it REMEMBERS. That was a mistake: It’s much easier than they make it sound. The first time I looked at SpamSieve a few months ago, I gave up just reading the initial setup directions. MacBook Pro 16 inch 2021 MacOS 13. I also have SpamSieve installed on my 2019 iMac without any issues. The filter works well while it’s running. SpamSieve's configuration is similar to Mail's junk mail filter, but training takes less. The resident filter in Apple Mail is completely incompetent (as was the one in Outlook previously) it learns very poorly and continues to deliver the same crap from the same addresses into my Inbox. In a nutshell, the SpamSieve rule disappears every time I close the Apple Mail application. Simple Ways to Tweak, Customize, and Secure OS X Matthew Cone. The mail program will only apply SpamSieve (and your other rules) to messages that arrive in the Mac’s inbox and are unread. ![]() I’ve been suffering a literal spam invasion, getting somewhere around 2000 a day from my four email accounts. I installed a fully functional trial version of SpamSieve on the recommendation of my friend Leisureguy a couple of weeks ago. ![]()
